Now more than ever small businesses need our help! I'm trying very hard to shop local, small businesses this year, so I thought I would share a few of my favorites so far. These are local to Louisville, where I live, but they are all available online so you can shop from anywhere.
I love finding unique, individual gifts for people on my holiday list, and these absolutely fit the bill!
I love a good experience gift and this is one I purchased for a special woman in my life, and BONUS - I get to go with her!
So House of Colour is owned by my friend Meghan Tinker, a true style genius. When I asked her about the process, she said "I can't believe you've never had your colors done after all your time in TV!" I agree!
So what does this mean? I have yet to do my session, but I've been following the business on social media and it is truly amazing to see how peoples' faces light up when they are wearing their "colors." Meghan hosts individual (or group!) sessions in her home where she has a process to identify your season of colors, which means what colors look best on you.
Have you ever had someone tell you you look "great in that color!" This is why. Certain colors can really enhance your features -- who knew?
Here's one example of a "color consultation." Imagine being able to clear out your closet and only buy clothes and makeup colors that flatter you from now on! Gift cards are available. https://house-of-colour-louisville.square.site/
I've been a fan of KEYPER for more than ten years now. I got it as a keychain and I've never used anything else. I love it for its convenience, but I REALLY love it because I know its founder, Dana Robinson. I interviewed Dana and her mom, Sally, when I was in local tv news and I was doing a story on local inventors. She and her mom saw the problem of women having too much "stuff" and not enough hands and decided to do something about it. They started stitching these cute keyrings in their basement more than 10 years ago. The company has grown tremendously and they have launched more accessories including the "it bag" which attaches to the keyring as a wallet or small clutch purse. I literally carry mine everyday -- either by itself or in my bigger bag as a wallet for the necessities.
I've given it as a gift to countless women in my life and they all have loved it. It is an easy, original, one-size-fits-all gift for any busy woman in your life -- mom, sister, friend, grandmother, daughter, etc. Who couldn't use an extra hand?
Use my code Kelsey for a discount or they are always running promotions around the holidays. Dana is a real inspiration -- she is a little energizer bunny who refuses to give up on her dream and I love it! www.mykeyper.com
Taylor Lee is another brand run by a friend. They have the cutest comfort gifts for every occasion, including the holidays!
From cute totes and candles to comfy socks and bath salts, your recipient will know you care when you send them a comfort kit.
Outside of holiday shopping, I love the idea of a comfort gift box as a gift for special occasions like a birthday, job promotion or just to say you care. They also offer a sympathy box, which I think is a great idea when you don't really know how to express sympathy for a loss and a card just won't cut it.
I mean, how cute is this?! 👆
A few of my favorite things to shop small this weekend.
Let me know some of your faves too!
